Resolved Question: How can you tell if your financial planner is effective?
Please don’t say you become rich or some other cute comment, I am serious and concerned. How DO you know especially in this economy? For example, in 1999 I rolled a small-ist amount (20k) into an IRA. I am not contributing to this IRA but 11 years has gone by and it has barely moved! HOW can this be??? I also started a Roth IRA with this person and it seems to be growing but slowly and mostly because I am contributing to this monthly. How do you know if your planner is worth a darn?
It is ING financial services

Open Question: Financial Survey for a Career I’m pursuing?
I need 10 people for a survey. The survey is for a career I’m working toward as an insurance agent at NYL. I would definitely like some people from Alaska to take the survey, because that is where I live, but I will accept anyone. If you’d like, we can do the survey over the phone, or you can send me a private email. You don’t have to answer every single question, but here they are:

Age:
Address:
Occupation:

Spouse’s Name:

Have you ever done any planning for your finances or insurance?

When did you last do your planning for your finances or insurance?

If you did financial or insurance planning, who was this done with?:
-an attorney
-an accountant
-a life insurance agent
-financial planner
-other

When was the last tie you met with your life insurance agent?
Can you describe the experience?

What characteristics do you look for in your financial professionals?

What kind of services do you expect from your insurance agent?

Considering all the people you worked with in developing your insurance plan, who most impressed you? Why?

Many people seem to have trouble saving money on a regular basis. Are you happy with your results in this area? Why?

Rate the following as high, medium, or low priority:
Insurance planning in general?
Providing funds to pay off your mortgage?
Providing funds to pay off debts in the event of your death?
Saving for your children’s education?
Saving and investing on a regular basis?
Providing for long term care needs?

Is there anything you would like to add which might help in my decision to join NYL as an insurance agent?

If, as a result of your help, I decide to join NYL, would you be willing to meet with me to discuss your insurance planning? (assuming it’s a possibility)

I’d appreciate it if you could tell me who you would survey if you were in my position. (referrals)
